the stub end of 280 in san francisco. mayor ed lee is talking about it with hopes of creating a new neighborhood and speeding up the arrival of high-speed rail service downtown. the idea is to knock down i-280 before 16th street - eliminating the ramps both at sixth and brannan streets and at fourth and king streets. it would be replaced by a street-level boulevard. the plan also calls for clearing out the adjacent rail yard to make way for a high-speed rail line. >> if you drive a toyota prius or a honda civic hybrid, there are still *thousands of green carpool stickers available. the stickers allow drivers to legally drive solo in california diamond lanes. just over nine-thousand green decals have been issued, which is well below the cap of 40-thousand. the carpool sticker program will end january 1, 2015, and its unclear whether it will be extended. while future exploratorium field trips will take place at the museum's new home at pier 15 in san francisco, one group of students will take over the recently vacated space in the palace of fine arts for an entire school year. the to

joins us from san francisco with the new lead in the kevin collins case. good morning, tara. >> reporter: the last person that kevin collins was seen talking to was a tall blond man with a black dog and a person matching that description was a person of interest in the case. used to live at this home here. he has since died. investigators revisiting the case realized that cadaver dogs were never used during the search of a home. san francisco police and fbi agents spent 12 hours out here. they did detect remains under the garage door. this is just blocks from where ten-year-old kevin collins was last seen waiting for a bus after school at masonic and oak back in 1984. >> we were able to pull up the concrete and discovered there were bones located underneath the concrete. medical examiners did respond on scene. they did a preliminary investigation of the bones and they believe it to be animal origin. not human origin. >> reporter: we want to emphasize the people that live in the duplex are not suspects. the man that was a person of interest was questioned after kevin vanished. he had an a

the rain move in, possibly a cell moving over the bay. the bay bridge into san francisco. but the cold front makes its way through the afternoon hours. so 2:00 this afternoon most of us under rain. it will start to spread into concord and livermore where it will get cloudy and then as the front pushes through by 7:00, that's when we start to see things change and then turn into showers overnight into tomorrow. but look at sunday. it's actually looking pretty good. after 10:00 shower chances diminish and then we will see some sunny conditions even sunday afternoon into sunday evening. when all of this is over, rainfall totals not too much. mainly half an inch at the most. but look for up to .6-inch in the north bay and possibly up to.eight-inch along the coastal areas on the peninsula and the south bay and east bay .2 to .4-inch. a high of 53 in san rafael, 55 san francisco, 57 in san jose. look for upper 50s as well, mid-50s parts of monterey. and tomorrow overnight lows a little bit more moderate because of the cloud cover. so we will see more 40s and here's your accuweather seven-day

and home invasion robbery in san francisco's richmond district happened around 3:00 this morning on the 500 block of 40 ave. will tran the following developments. the last time we talked you share the eye witness accounts. what happened this morning? >> 8 people were inside the apartment at around 3:00 a.m. this morning they were sound asleep when they say five people came into their apartment banged on the door kick down the door. they thought the front door was closed but apparently it was not. they went through there. they demand that the people inside give them marijuana. the victims believe the people came into the house thought this was a former grow house. these are all college kids in their early 20s. they had no idea. there are men and women in sight. i got a chance to get photos of the damage inside of the place. the robbers came in their faces were fully exposed. they were carrying guns. some of them. at one point they grabbed a knife from the kitchen. you can see the damage to the doors. they were tossing drawers and eds. they did not get what they were looking for. in the proce

is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a woman in her apartment here in san francisco. police say 25-year-old javon jones of marin city barged into the apartment on telegraph hill as the 26-year-old came home saturday night. jones allegedly demanded money, forced her onto the floor. police arrested him in a backyard on green street and charged with robbery, race and false imprisonment. >>> thousands attended a gun show at the cow palace over the weekend. many showed up because of possible stricter gun and ammunition laws. california already has the toughest gun laws in the nation. the owner of the show says tougher laws hurt his bottom line. >> it's cumbersome. i certainly wouldn't endorse it because it is more difficult to do business. >> no one was able to walk away with a new gun from the show. in california, there's a ten- day waiting period and a rigorous background check. >>> meanwhile, the head of the nra says it's unlikely congress will pass a new ban on assault weapons. david keene talked about gun control on cnn. he says other things
